Fine English double bass by John Hart, London circa 1830, the two piece back is flat with a break and of flamed maple, the sides of finely flamed maple, the head of maple, the table of a fine grain spruce and the varnish a dark brown colour laid over a light brown ground, length of back 44 1/2", stop length 24 1/2" and vibrating string length 41.75"
