George Harrison interest - Handwritten and initialled note from George Harrison to Alan Rogan, passing comment on the use of one of his Rickenbacker guitars, enclosed within an original proof manuscript of Richard R Smith's 'The History of Rickenbacker Guitars', sent to Alan Rogan by the author for proof checking; together with a first edition of Richard R Smith's 'The History of Rickenbacker Guitars', author signed with tribute to Alan Rogan thanking him for all his help with the book; Tony Bacon 'Rickenbacker Electric Twelve String'; and Paul D. Boyer 'The Rickenbacker Electric Bass' (4)

* The Alan Rogan Collection

* The hand written note from George Harrison is inscribed on the reverse of a hand written letter from Richard Smith to Alan Rogan, dated June 3rd, 1987. The letter asks Alan to let him know what he thinks of the manuscript - "let me know what you think and if you have any luck with George". Enclosed is an original print of John Lennon's 325/12 from 1964, which is also included in the sale.

In reply, George's note reads "The Rickenbacker 12 string is a well designed guitar and I particularly liked the layout of it 12 machine heads. Along with its bright sound, this guitar contributed a lot to the music of the Beatles and the 1960s. In fact I have used it recently on my new album and it still sounds terrific. GH"
