£4,000 - £6,000
Interesting late 18th/early 19th century English violoncello, unlabelled, the two piece back of faint medium curl with similar wood to the sides, the head of plainish wood, the table of a medium width grain and the varnish of a light reddish-brown colour on a golden ground, 29 1/2", 74.90cm
This cello has had numerous repairs over the years especially to the table where all the restored cracks are clearly visible in the images, the back and sides appear to be in reasonable condition with expected wear and tear for age, there has also been a repair to both sides of the top of the peg box below the scroll, there is some evidence of old worm infestation below the button on the back. See all images for guidance, personal viewing advised.
