The compass is most certainly a marriage/later addition to the vesta, date of this addition not known, the glass to the compass is clear, the vesta spring hinge opens and closes securely and correctly, please note: split to the cover top left corner, shape elsewhere good, engraved definition good, the compass does not function correctly.
