** Provenance in the vendors own words:
My mother bought me my cello in 1963 from Arthur Beare. She knew Arthur and Charles well and bought her viola and bows and all things musical from them. Unfortunately any written evidence of this cello having been bought from them was lost after my mother’s death.
I was taught by Anna Shuttleworth - a wonderful teacher who amongst other things, I understand,  vetted students who would go on to be taught by Mstislav Rostropovich. I went to Downe House School which had a strong music department. My mother also went there and was best friends with the cellist Amaryllis Fleming.

**This violoncello is fitted with a Beares bridge and sold with a silver mounted violoncello bow stamped Bausch
