The Alarm and Status Quo - Studio and stage used vintage Vox AC30 2 x 12 guitar amplifier, made in England, enclosing later Celestion greenback speakers

** Purchased by The Alarm from Status Quo in 1983. Bought while they were rehearsing at E-ZEE Hire studios in London. The Vox AC30 was Mikes main stage amp that has been used at various times right up to the present day. "It’s a great sounding amp with all the vintage tone but probably not best suited to being on the road anymore as needs a lot of TLC. Sounds killer in the studio."

** Live photograph shows the amplifier in use

More Information

After a brief test this amp powers up and functions however, some of the inputs do require attention as they are loose which causes the output to cut out. The vib-trem circuit appears to have been bypassed. When engaged it there is an audible change in sound but it appears to make the sound slightly brighter rather than applying the trem sound.
