** Repaired and put into playing order by Peter Bavington and Andrew Wooderson in 2024
This instrument is in playing condition and was recently repaired by Peter Bavington and Andrew Wooderston in 2024. A detailed restoration report is available.
There are interesting inscriptions in German, French and English on the baseboards and underside of the soundboard; reading these would require a more extensive restoration, including the removal of the soundboard.
The instrument was examined in February 2025 and small openings at dovetail corners were observed.
This clavichord has many similarities with MIMEd 4321 in Edinburgh (BMO-789): in particular, the paper embossed key fronts are identical. But the design is not the same in every detail.
Observations noted in the condition report are based on obvious signs to the naked eye from an experienced restorer. They are designed for quick analysis of their condition, leaving interested parties to carry out their own personal inspection. Please note that actions have not been removed from instruments.
