£2,800
French violin by and labelled Ch.J.B. Collin-Mezin, Luthier á Paris, Rue du Faub G. Poissonniere, no. 10, 1887; also signed to the inner back on the lower treble side, the two piece back of faint medium curl with similar wood to the sides, the head of fine curl, the table of a medium width grain and the varnish of a light reddish-brown colour on a golden ground, 14 1/8", 35.90cm
There is evidence of poor overvarnishing on the back in the sound post area but looking internally no evidence of a crack, otherwise condition appears reasonable with knocks and bruises to the edges commensurate with age and playing wear. See images for guidance. Personal viewing is advised where possible.
