** The artist was born in 1897 in the city of Szeged, in the southern part of Hungary. She was originally a talented piano player obtaining a diploma at the Hungarian Music Academy. After completing her music studies she pursued her interest in painting and undertook several study tours to France and Italy. She specialised in portraying hedonistic women posing naked using influences of impressionism and romance, her rich luxurious and naturalistic paintings were inspired by the Joie de Vivre of Károly Lotz and Gyula Benczúr.
In good original condition with thick impasto throughout, there is dirt to the surface and splashes of further dirt to the lower right hand corner, also the stretcher bar along the top edge is showing through, contained within a 1930s or '40s elaborately decorated gilt plaster and wooden frame.
