** The artist studied at Beckenham Art School in the late 1940's and early 1950's, she had been expected to train as a teacher, but secretly obtained a place at The Royal College of Art with a full scholarship, she met the artist Peter Blake and Frank Auerbach, her oil sketch of 1954 depicting a naked Quentin Crisp won a sketch club prize and she graduated in 1957 with a first class degree and prizes in painting and life drawing. She married the artist Roger Hilton and became influenced by the artist Henri Matisse and Pierre Bonnard, both her and her husband Roger were friends with many of Cornwall's great artists including Peter Lanyon, Terry Frost, Patrick Herron, Bryan Wynter. She has been represented by many galleries both in London around the world and particularly in her adopted county, Cornwall
