*Sold on behalf of the estate of Keith Hyde. Keith purchased the bass from a music store in Hounslow, London, UK, with whom he was friends with the proprietors Roy and Marilyn Hamilton. At the time, Marilyn was working at the offices of The Who company. According to the Roy, the bass was brought into the shop by Simon Townshend, brother of Pete Townshend who now plays with The Who. The bass was reputedly an "end of tour" gift to him. Being a fan of the band, Keith was delighted to acquire the bass for his collection.
Following ownership, when Keith took the bass apart, he found a note concealed inside inscribed "SN 376250 - If found please return to John Entwistle c/o "The Who" - a reward will be offered. Please contact our London office on 4998686. This original note is included in the sale.
