Interesting late 18th/early 19th century violoncello, probably English, unlabelled, the two piece back of wild flame with similar wood to the sides, the head possibly of beech wood, the table of a medium width grain and the varnish of a golden-brown colour to the back and sides and a reddish colour on the table, 29 3/4", 74.30cm, canvas case
This violoncello is in a very poor state of repair with table, sound post and numerous other cracks, the ribs also with repaired cracks, the back in much better condition but slightly opening on the seam, the head in good condition and of a very distinctive straight grain.
