Gilbert, Peterborough, Fecit Anno MDCCCVL, the two piece back of faint medium curl with similar wood to the sides and head, the table with stripped varnish of fine curl widening to the flanks and the original varnish of a light reddish-brown colour on a golden ground, 30", 76.20cm, hard case

**The varnish on the table of this instrument has been stripped and a sound post crack repaired

The instrument is also sold with numerous historical receipts from Edward Withers Limited and J.P . Guivier & Co Limited. There are also several black and white photographs of the instrument before the varnish was taken off the table

A bridge, tailpiece, sound post and strings also accompany the lot
