Dutch School (19th century) - Winter scene with figures skating on the ice beside a windmill and other buildings, indistinctly signed below the frame, also bearing a later inscription verso attributing the work to Pieter Aertsen, oil on canvas, 17" x 21"

The picture is in fully restored condition, it has been re-lined, cleaned and restored probably back in the 1990s, there is craquelure across the whole surface and discoloured restoration in places, the sky and parts of the landscape too, the figures are (in our opinion) not brilliantly painted but what we deem as decorative, as the work is too, it has a later replacement frame, again probably placed on the work in the 1990s.
