The Kinks interest - 1972 Hiwatt Custom 100 guitar amplifier head, made in England, serial number 3839
*This amplifier bears a The Kinks stencil to the underside and was acquired from a former Hawkwind roadie who had owned it for many years. An email from Hiwatt Amplification states: "The serial number of this amplifier aligns with production records from mid-1972 onwards, with a build schedule for The Kinks' USA and television performances in 1973, most certainly being used for those performances." Contemporary photographs from the period show the band using Hiwatt amplifier heads during their January 1973 BBC appearance and subsequent USA tour.
