Interesting English viola of the Hill School circa 1780, the one piece back of very faint medium curl with similar wood to the sides, the head of plainish wood, the table of a fine width grain and the varnish of a reddish-brown colour on a golden ground, 15 1/16", 38.30cm
This viola is in generally poor condition, with a table sound post crack running the length of the body, also several other table cracks clearly visible in the images, the sound post crack running the whole length of the table has not been well restored, there are also cracks to the upper bout ribs on the bass side by the neck.
