Fine and interesting late 18th century double bass attributed to Luigi Alosio Marconcini with carved lion's head scroll, length of back 41.5", stop length 22" and vibrating string length 40"

** This bass was reputedly discovered in a convent in Bologna and was attributed to the maker by John Holt (RPO) on a sales receipt given to the current owner. Marconcini worked in Bologna, Ferrara & Venice and was a pupil of Omobono Stradivarius.
There are images accompanying the bass, with Perriti in Ratignano, Italy, who owned the instrument and in the workshop of Tom and George Martin, where the vendor had it restored.
