In fully restored condition, the work has been relined, cleaned and restored back in the 1960s or '70s, there is evidence of some restoration in the sky but this appears to be minimal and the surface of the work has dirt and discoloured varnish throughout, there may have been a tear or damage in the watermill and into the trees and vegetation in the foreground, this extends for approximately 7-10" and has been filled and restored, this old restoration is now starting to discolour, the surface of the work does have dirt and discoloured varnish and there is further evidence of restoration in the lower left hand corner, contained within a replacement plain gilt plaster and wooden frame.
