Interesting early 19th century violoncello, probably English and unlabelled, the two piece back of very faint medium curl with similar wood to the sides, the head of plainish wood, the table of a fine width grain and the varnish of a reddish-brown colour on a golden ground, 28 3/4", 73cm, soft case
Generally slightly poor condition with old restorations and more restorations required, the back has been poorly joined to the ribs with several repairs where the neck joins the body, there is a bass bar and other cracks on the table, bruising and scratches all over.
