David Merrin states: "This cedar top concert guitar dating from 1976 has a very powerful sound and features his characteristic 'spearhead' motif on the headstock. It does, however, require a good technique to unlock its rich resources. The double sides have added stiffness and weight to the guitar and the string tension feels looser - perhaps because of this, it has a refined and mature sound with fast attack."
Condition notes: overall, appears in used but good condition and although free of any major or structural defaults, the guitar may have been refinished at some stage, possibly to freshen its look. Any work of this nature was carried out before it became part of The Granary Guitar Collection.
The guitar generally appears to be in good condition. Black-lighting shows evidence of refinishing, with some work / tidying up potentially carried out around the bridge. It also appears that there may have been a small crack to the upper bout to the bass side of the fingerboard - this is only properly visible under the blacklight. Images of the internals show no signs of internal cleating repairs. The frets appear to be original and in good condition. The action at the 12th fret is approx 4mm at the lower E and 3mm at the upper E. The top appears to be fairly flat and if I am being critical there may be an ever so slight lift to the belly behind the bridge. I would suggest that this is not major / does not impact the guitar and is fairly typical. There is no sinking to the centre in front of the bridge. The guitar comes in a good fitting hard case. There is no apparent fret buzz when playing and is a very nice sounding guitar. Please see images for general condition guidance
