Rare and important pair of Parsons Super Ideal copper pedal tuned timpani drums, 29" and 26", each stamped 'Parsons Super Ideal Birmingham 29' and fitted upon wooden trolley bases, each with dust cover *Sold on behalf of the estate of Colin Goldsmith. Originally made as a set of four by Ernest Parsons Sr in the 1930s for his son Ernest Jr and used in the CBSO. The Timpani were then passed onto the son, Clifford Parsons and were also used in the CBSO orchestra. Following Clifford's retirement, the Timpani were sold to a Peter Morley, who used them professionally for approximately 50 years. In 2012, they were sold to Andrea Harding Smith, who in turn passed them onto Colin Goldsmith.
