Interesting French guitar, circa 1830, with indecipherable brand to the inner back; Back and sides: maple some separation at edge binding; Top: fine grained spruce, hairline parting to centre, one other minor hairline, some raising and loss to mastic edging, shrinkage/ageing to sound-hole fretwork; Neck: ebonised; Fretboard: ebonised; Frets: worn, frets tapering onto table (last fret missing); Hardware: missing bridge pins, friction tuning pegs; Case: period ebonised wooden case; Scale Length: 650mm; Nut width: 46mm; Overall condition: good for age

*Inherited by the vendor through family descent. Sold with a Stainer receipt listing 'one old French guitar, wooden case', date 17th December 1917
