Fine and interesting 18th century violoncello labelled and probably by Sebastianus Rauch me fecit, Wratislaviae 1765, the ebony banded table fitted with an oval sound hole pierced with foliage beneath the end of the fingerboard, the two piece back of faint medium/fine curl with similar wood to the sides and head, the table of a fine width grain slightly widening to the flanks and the varnish of a reddish-brown colour on a golden ground, 29 1/8", 74cm, soft case
This violoncello has a professionally undertaken sound post patch repair in the back, there is also a sound post crack and others in the table, clearly visible in the images, other general wear and tear consistent with age and playing, see images for guidance, personal viewing advised
