£3,500
Dr John Plowman - Good olivewood and marquetry eight day longcase clock with five pillar movement, the 10" square brass dial signed Johannes Fromanteel, Londini, fecit on the dial plate beneath six o'clock, with silvered chapter ring enclosing a matted centre with subsidiary seconds dial, shuttered winding holes and calendar aperture, the case with long beaded moulded edged door inlaid with flowerheads over the base with similar inlay, the sides with sectional oyster veneer and the rising hood with flat moulded stepped cornice over a pierced foliate fret carved frieze, 79" high (with pendulum, two brass cased weights and keys)
The case is a reproduction piece but overall nice quality and of a good colour. The makers signature is spurious in our opinion, the movement overall in a clean condition but not tested, with a pair of brass capped weights - see images for guidance, personal viewing always advised when possible
